Before your units leave for colocation
Hosted farms allocate rack positions by heat density, not by purchase date. This guide summarizes how we score readiness for miners at 0.05 TH/s and above — the same criteria used in our thermal farm assessment reports.
Thermal profile tiers

Rack orientation checklist
- Exhaust points toward hot aisle or duct opening
- Blank panels on empty neighboring U spaces when farm policy allows
- Power PDU on same phase plan documented by farm
- Network drop verified before thermal load test at farm
Documentation to gather from your farm partner
- Maximum watts per U allowed in your contract tier
- Ambient temperature guarantee range
- Maintenance windows that cycle aisle load
- Procedure when aisle temperature alarms trigger

Facilities near our office often use 42U racks with 1.1m aisles. Tier B units are commonly placed in positions 38–42 and 1–4 at end rows. Always confirm with your specific operator — layouts vary.
When to commission a full assessment
